A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A GRANT AWARD FROM THE CENTERPOINT
ENERGY COMMUNITY SAFETY GRANT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, CenterPoint Energy has established a Community Safety Grant Program to
invest in the safety of communities within its service area; and
WHEREAS, since 2003, the Community Safety Grant program has awarded
approximately $3.6 million in funding for nearly 1,800 safety-related projects across CenterPoint
Energy's service area; and
WHEREAS, the City of Chanhassen has been a grateful and recurring recipient of
CenterPoint Energy Community Safety Grants, including grants accepted in 2017, 2022, and
2024;
WHEREAS, CenterPoint Energy has awarded the Chanhassen Fire Department a
Community Safety Grant in the amount of $2,500 to support the purchase of gas monitors;
WHEREAS, gas monitors are essential safety equipment that will enhance the
operational readiness of the Chanhassen Fire Department and improve the safety of emergency
response operations for the community; and
WHEREAS, acceptance of this grant is consistent with the City's strategic priority of
Operational Excellence;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Chanhassen City Council that:
1. The City of Chanhassen hereby accepts the $2,500 Community Safety Grant from
CenterPoint Energy for the purchase of gas monitors for the Chanhassen Fire
Department.
2. The Mayor and City Manager are authorized to execute any documents necessary to
receive and administer the grant funds.
3. Staff is directed to prepare correspondence thanking CenterPoint Energy for their
continued partnership and investment in community safety.
