Commissioner Mobley called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.
MEMBERS’ PRESENT:
Vice Chair Phyllis Mobley, Jane Bender, Janet Dean, Beth Mason, Barbara Solum, Chair Jim
Camarata (remote)
MEMBERS ABSENT: Gwen Block. Bill Monn
GUESTS PRESENT: Lee Ann Eiden, Senior Community Services; Linnea Fonnest,
Chanhassen Library
APPROVAL OF AGENDA:
The commissioners reviewed the agenda. Commissioner Mason made a motion to approve.
Commissioner Solum made a second. All members voted in favor; the motion was carried.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
January 16, 2026, minutes were reviewed electronically by all commissioners. Commissioner
Dean motioned to approve the agenda. Commissioner Monn seconded. All members voted in
favor; the motion was carried.
GENERAL BUSINESS:
Commissioner Check-In and Sub-Committees
Commissioner Mobley reported on two virtual educational sessions she recently attended. One
was a recap of Medicare related resources and included updates about advantage plans and
Medicare program information. The second was “Consider the Caregiver” which focused on
helping caregivers find resources, contacts and virtual support in their journey. Lee Ann Eiden
commented on resources available through Senior Community Resources programs. Discussion
moved to promoting these types of resources through social media and online news options.
Mobley discussed the upcoming educational session set for March 10, 3-4pm at the Senior
Center called “Is it My Memory” with brain specialist Janie Horn. Commissioners were
encouraged to attend and invite others as well.
Commissioner Dean discussed the upcoming Advanced Directives Training hosted by the
Commission who invited all Carver County senior commissions and advisory boards. It is
scheduled for Thursday, March 19. Carver County Office of Aging is sponsoring lunch. Details
of the day were discussed. Commissioners will help host and serve.
Blazanin spoke for Commissioner Monn, who was unable to attend, about a SW Transit field trip
demonstration to the airport which is now scheduled for June 11. Details will go out in the next
Connection Brochure and on the Senior Center website.
Blazanin noted Commissioner Mason and Commissioner Solum were reappointment to the
Commission by City Council for another term. The Council also appointed Sharon Cooprider to
participate as a non-voting member. She will be invited to the March meeting.
VISITOR PRESENTATIONS:
Carver County Health and Human Services, Office of Aging, Kara Cassidy
Kara Cassidy was not in attendance
Chanhassen Senior Center Upcoming Programs, Mary Blazanin
Blazanin shared program plans for the Chanhassen Senior Center for late spring and early
summer. She noted her last day at the Senior Center will be May 1, as she is retiring.
Senior Community Services Update, LeeAnn Eiden, Social Worker
LeeAnn shared information on Senior Community Services programs, providing caregiver
coaching, family meetings, virtual support, in person support groups, and a Memory Café
program at Carver Ridge Senior Living.
Chanhassen Library, Linnea Fonnest
Linnea provided an overview of current and upcoming programs, forums, and library events. She
noted another associate will be assisting with Adult Programming over the next few months as
well.
OTHER DISCUSSION
Blazanin reported that Revitalizing Veterans Dreams will attend the Memorial Day Ceremony
and Helping Paws – Veteran’s Service Dog Training Organization, will be the donation
organization for the 4th of July Bingo tent this year. She also discussed getting donation request
emails out this year instead of letters. Commissioner Bender offered to assist in that process.
ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Mason made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Solum seconded. All members
voted in favor; the meeting was adjourned at 11:05am.
