A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A REIMBURSEMENT GRANT FROM THE
MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, STATE FIRE MARSHAL
DIVISION UNDER THE 2026–2027 GEAR WASHER/EXTRACTOR PROGRAM AND
AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF THE ALLOCATION AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, pursuant to Minnesota Statutes §§ 297I.06, subd. 3 and 299F.012, the Fire
Safety Account (FSA) is established in the state treasury, and the Commissioner of Public Safety
is authorized to expend funds for activities and programs recommended by the Fire Service
Advisory Committee (FSAC); and
WHEREAS, following publication of a Notice of Request for Submissions for State
Fiscal Year 2026 One-Time Fire Safety Account Proposals in the Minnesota State Register on
April 14, 2025, FSAC reviewed and recommended funding allocations from the FSA, including
funding for the Gear Washer and Extractor Program administered by the Department of Public
Safety, State Fire Marshal Division (DPS-SFM); and
WHEREAS, the City of Chanhassen submitted an application to DPS-SFM for
participation in the Gear Washer and Extractor Program and was determined by DPS -SFM to be
eligible for reimbursement under the program requirements; and
WHEREAS, the City of Chanhassen has been approved for the purchase and installation
of a Gear Dryer with a total approved reimbursement amount of $10,800.00, of which DPS -SFM
will reimburse up to $8,000.00 and the City is required to provide a local match of $2,800.00
(35%); and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it in the best interest of the City and its firefighters to
accept this grant funding to support firefighter health, safety, and proper turnout gear
maintenance;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Chanhassen City Council hereby
accepts the reimbursement grant from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, State Fire
Marshal Division under the 2026–2027 Gear Washer/Extractor Program in the total approved
amount of $10,800.00; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Manager are hereby
authorized to execute the Fire Service Advisory Committee Allocation Agreement – Gear
Washer & Extractor Program (Application No. 3) and any amendments thereto on behalf of the
City of Chanhassen.
