Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 6:02 p.m.
Approval of Minutes
The commissioners reviewed the minutes. Commissioner Lindmark motioned to approve the
minutes, and Commissioner Humphreys seconded. Commissioner Stutzman abstained. The
motion passed 5-0, and the May minutes were approved.
Visitor Presentations
Kelly Olson from TurtlTracker shared information about her app and their mission, and shared
the issue of turtle fatalities on Galpin Boulevard between Paisley Path and Della Drive. She
believes this stretch of road meets the Minnesota DNR definition of a hot spot. She is interested
in learning about the environmental review process that occurred for the Galpin Boulevard
planning, as well as her desire to explore cost-effective solutions to reduce the hazards to turtles.
Katie Hachiya, a resident, shared that cars travel very quickly on Galpin Boulevard.
Discussion Items
D.1 Arbor Day Poster Contest Update
Jamie Marsh, Environmental Resource Specialist, shared that the Arbor Day poster contest
winner, Brynlee Schrupp, will attend the June 22 City Council meeting to be presented with her
prize. Chair Grefe will attend to represent the Environmental Commission.
D.2. Environmental Academy Planning
Ms. Marsh shared updates from her meeting with Dustin at Carver County to discuss the
Environmental Academy. The county will coordinate a tour of the Environmental Center, a visit
to Dakota Prairie, and a session at ReClaim It, a building material reuse center.
The Commission discussed their ideas, and will move forward with another event at Camp Fire
MN, a tour of DemCon, and a learning discussion on wood waste and how Emerald Ash Borer is
handled.

D.3 Trivia Night Planning Update
Trivia Night is confirmed for July 9 at 7 p.m. at Hackamore Brewing. The Commission reviewed
the questions and the tie-breaker question. The Commission signed up for different roles during
trivia night. The event will be promoted through the Communications team and at the table
during the 4th of July.
D.4 July 3rd Business Expo: Finalize Planning
The Commission planned the activities and giveaways for the Business Expo. They will have a
trash-or-recycle sorting activity, prizes, and information.

Adjournment
Commissioner Stutzman moved to adjourn the meeting, and Commissioner Pengelly seconded.
The motion was carried 6-0, and the meeting adjourned at 7:23 p.m.

Environmental Commission. Interviews are tentatively planned for August 10.
