This is a summary of the design and calculations. See the Subcatchment exhibits, Site & Grading plan, and Hydrocad results for more detailed information. Volume Reduction 1.1 inches of volume reduction is required over the newly constructed impervious area. Based on conversations with yourself and verification with the USDA Soil Survey the site appears to consist of clay, which does not allow reliable infiltration. Volume reduction is not feasible here and a sand filter is proposed. Peak Discharge Requirement The proposed peak runoff rates for the 2yr, 10yr, 100yr, and 100yr-Snowmelt Events events must be less the existing peak runoff rates. Existing Peak Discharge Rate Proposed Discharge Rate 2 yr = 1.05 cfs 2 yr = 0.74 cfs 10yr = 2.41 cfs 10yr = 2.36 cfs 100yr = 4.86 cfs 100yr = 4.52 cfs 100yr 10 day Snowmelt = 4.88 cfs 100yr 10 day Snowmelt = 4.53 cfs Water Quality Requirements Water quality is provided by a treatment train consisting of a pond connected to a iron-enhanced sand filter. The pond and sand filter have outlets ensuring the sand filter does not see flows greater than 1.29 cfs from the 6” PVC inlet pipe . See the included MIDS Version 4 calculation. 1.1 inches x 5775 SF x 1/12 = 529 CF The required iron-enhanced filter area is 110 sf based on an infiltration rate of 1.2 in/hr. A 16 ft x 7 ft sand filter is provided (112 sf), to accommodate the water quality volume. LAKE & LAND SURVEYING, INC. Warning: Soil Map may not be valid at this scale. Enlargement of maps beyond the scale of mapping can cause misunderstanding of the detail of mapping and accuracy of soil line placement. The maps do not show the small areas of contrasting soils that could have been shown at a more detailed scale. Please rely on the bar scale on each map sheet for map measurements. Source of Map: Natural Resources Conservation Service Web Soil Survey URL: Coordinate System: Web Mercator (EPSG:3857) Maps from the Web Soil Survey are based on the Web Mercator projection, which preserves direction and shape but distorts distance and area. A projection that preserves area, such as the Albers equal-area conic projection, should be used if more accurate calculations of distance or area are required. This product is generated from the USDA-NRCS certified data as of the version date(s) listed below. Soil Survey Area: Carver County, Minnesota Survey Area Data: Version 22, Sep 9, 2025 Soil map units are labeled (as space allows) for map scales 1:50,000 or larger. Date(s) aerial images were photographed: Mar 1, 2025—Jul 1, 2025 The orthophoto or other base map on which the soil lines were compiled and digitized probably differs from the background imagery displayed on these maps. As a result, some minor shifting of map unit boundaries may be evident.
