Dear Mr. Woitalla:
I am sorry for the delay in responding to your request'tp'have sewer
brought up to.your property line in Greenwood .Shores, As stated to
your wife, your proposal may be difficult to accomplish axed would
be impossible'as an extension of the'Greonwgod 5hore,s,proj.ect.,
I say this as the City'.is unable to. extend a project,.greater,than. the
area outlined in the public hea,ri:-nq or to as ess propo-rt.ies outside
that area, This is not a local policy, but state law, For the City
to install the improvement' a new' public hearing wou.j.d:,be . required and
benefitted properties assessed. As a portion of-th4e,project would
be constructed across privately owned pxoperty, presently being served
and assessed for public sewer, your property would-be responsible for
the full assessment. Public bids would be 'requirod&, if the. City
contracted the project.
As this would be a. minor project, I would suggest, that the improvement
be completed as a private i,mpravement project.. Preparation of plans
for the improvement would be required as well as constructing such to
city standards. This process, however, woiAld eliminate the necessity
for a public hearing,,public bids.and assessment-heartng.
As the proposed project would be constructed..arprgas priV&te property
(between your property and Redman .Gi.rcle) an.emht of''.sufficient
width to construct and maintain ` the:.sewpr' lin+ would -..-be required.
The city can help you in ocqu, irin 4 . the.names,. of owAp: sh%p .of ,this
property.
Mr. Louis Woitalla _2.. Aucjuat 20, 1976
Vast, ..but not least, the city s .consulting gnglnoq r Bill Brezinsky,
did not believe your property could be served y a grayity'sewer
from Redman Circle. if not, the additional coNt' of i.netalling a
lift station would add considerable expe4ae .fog: you. Additionally,
2 would ask that before you Begin negotiations for .the easement or
obtaining a contract, that you stop in City Hall and discuss
possible development plans with the City Planner.,'Bruce Pankonin.
You should make sure any property dividipns wQ41d occur insuring
the sewer line proposed would service such new lots.
Should you have any additional questionsk please feel free to
contact me.
Since ly yours,
Don Ashworth
City Administrator
