Coloniol Shopping Center Iot (tot E). lt is imperotive thot for tha heolth of the
Coloniol Shopping Center, os well os the continued heolth of the retoil function of
the Ceniiol Busines: Districi, thoi Lot E be progrommed to serve the fost tumover
retoil funciions first, ond the long term porker second.
The owner of the shopping center in the post hos been reluctont to police the
operotion of the loir os this qction could couse hord feeiings ond lose business' This
could be resolved if the City were oble to control operotion of the Iot. As the pri-
mory purpose of this lot is to serve the shopping center, it is not recommended thot
;he Ci;y 5uy the iot, bui rother encouroge lhe owner to leose the lot to the Ciiy on

should be considered. However, re understand that the busi-ness has.a rightto rebuild on the present property and in the event they intend to repairtheir property, a building pennit should be approved.

Ilatt Fischer, oxner of Chanhassen Ready Mix res present, and discussed his
plane for repairlng the damage to hls plant as a result of the recent fire.
He stated that it !,es ur6ent to receive a b':ilding permit so that he could
start rebuilding 1flm6diate1y. Discussion uas held regarding future plane
and Mr. Fischer Btated that he rould rebuild at a rnininnrm cost and he will
be uilling to look et any nex 6it6 that nay be available in Chanlassen.

The street 1lghting, Blgn ordinence end CBD parldng were discrssed. Drre to
the heavy workload on the Clty Planner and Administrator as a result of the
current leglslative session, the planner and administrator heve not had sufflct.ent
tfune to revlew the prograns that have been passed on by the previous administrator.It was requested by Bruce Pankonin to allow more time for his review and these
items wil-L be presented at a later date.

CHANHASSEN LAWN AND SPORTS: Bernard Hanson presented a proposal
reque st ang the approval of a temporary Use Permit for a 14 x l0
metal building to be placed within the chain link fence
adjacent to the building. The reason for this request is that he
does not own the building at this time and cannot build a permanent
structure. Discussion was held on a need for solid fence to
conceal the miscellaneous items stored within the fenced. area.Mr. Hansonr s request was discussed.
John HavIik moved and Tom xlingelhutz seconded the followi,ng motion,
to recommend to the Planning Commission and Cj,ty Council approve
a Conditional Use Permit for a maximum of 2 years for the erectionof a 14 x 10 metal building as located in the sketch and style
as shown. Also, a solid screen will be installed or attached
to the existing fence on or before May 1, 1976. Before screeningis instafled, the applicant will submit material and design to
the Central Business District Comnission and City Council for
approval.

Motion was seconded by Harry Pau1y. On the vote belng taken, there were
no negative votes and the motion was carried.
A short discussion was also heJ.d regarding tho Pa,:Iy, Koltyk, Bloomberg
parking 1ot. Final plans have not boen completed but it is expoctod that
the revised cost estirnate will be available by l,'larch !, A976, the date of

A rneeting of the Central Business District was called to order on
April 19, ),976 at 4:00 p.m. by Chairman Bernard Schnei.der. The
following members r4rere present: Bernard Schneider, Harry Pauly,
Adolph Tessness, Ann Koltyk and Herb Bloomberg. John Havlik and
Tom Klingelhutz were absent. Also present were BilI Brezinsky,
Bruce Pankonin, and Don Ashworth.
Bruce Pankonin's reports dated April 15 and April 19, 1976 were read.
The purpose of the meeting was to see if the CBD could come to
some agreement in which to proceed before presenting the parking lot
proposal to the City Council.

order on May 3, 1976 at 4:00 p.n. by Chairman Bernard Schneicler. The

The City Council wiII discuss the reaction of the CBD regarding the
parking 1ot at this evenings meeting.
Ann Koltyk feets she would like to develop the parking area on her
property alonq or t/rith the adjoining businesses.
A motion was made by Tom Kl-ingelhutz and seconded by John Hav1ik that
the CBD recofiunend. to the City Council that the parking lot project
be dropped by the city and the three (3) parties involved will
proceed without delay as a private project. Motion carried.
